Pancharevo Trail Marathon 2018: Yet Again!

April 14, 2018 By Boris Hristov Leave a Comment

I started running marathons in 2013. Since then I did two half marathons each year – one in April(the Pancharevo Marathon) and one in October(the Sofia Marathon). Тhis year is no different. Or is it?

April is coming and I am heading to the Pancharevo Trail Marathon again! 21 kilometer race in the mountain – should be fun or at least – it is every single year! This year my goal is to make the race under 2 hours and 15 minutes. Hopefully there won’t be as much mud as the last few years(heavy rain during the days before the race) but even if it is, that’s not an excuse.

Wish me good luck. I will update the blog post after the event and probably, I will let you know what I am aiming at this year for October and what I am actually preparing for in the last 4 months.

End.

Update: If you look above, my goal was to get under 2:15 this year. Well, goal achieved! Next stop – 21 km. marathon race on the streets of Sofia. Date – May 13th.

Vitosha 100. Waiting For Years For This!

June 16, 2016 By Boris Hristov Leave a Comment

Vitosha 100 is one of those races that I wanted to attack at least in the last 2 years. HVitosha_100_Boris_Hristov_Numberowever, because of my traveling schedule I was not able to. Till this year.

This Saturday we will take our bikes and at 6 AM we will start our 100 km journey in the Vitosha mountain!

It’s really hard for me to explain how much I am looking forward to this challenge! I have spent just an incredible amount of time getting my health and fitness to the level that’s required for such race…

So wish me good luck and if by any chance you are on Snapchat – add me there(brshristov) as I am going to be posting some interesting footage during those 8 – 10 hours of riding in Vitosha mountain!

Update: 9 hours and 3 minutes! That’s the time of my 100 km. biking journey!

I have to say… this was quite a crazy race! Will I go for it next year? To be honest, I don’t know. Probably not and the reason is just one – at some point(my opinion!) the race becomes boring. 100 kilometers is just so much that at some point it’s just the same as it was 4 hours ago – mountains, rocks, dust and mud. Again, that’s my opinion only, so for all of you who are thinking of doing something similar – go for it and challenge yourself! That’s worth doing! 🙂

Pancharevo Trail Marathon 2016: I’m Ready!

April 20, 2016 By Boris Hristov Leave a Comment

The Pancharevo Trail Marathon 2016 – a marathon race that I am attacking for 3rd time this year(even though I am boris_hristov_pancharevo_trail_marathon_race_2016_running_gearblogging about it for first time). A marathon race that this year will be a bit different than the previous ones.

I always go for the 21 km. discipline and this year is no different. However, this year the 21 km. race is not a marathon race, but a trail marathon race which simply means that most of the time we will not be running on a road, but somewhere in the nature…

Already looking for Sunday and the challenge(the forecast is for rain too…) and yeap, even though I did 1h 27min on my last 21 km. race, I am definitely not trying to improve this time on this race. The reason is because I did this time on a road. And that is kind of different than running in the forest with 700 m. denivelation…

Update on what happened coming after the race!

Wish me good luck! 🙂

Update: This was the hardest and at the same time insanely cool sports event I have ever been part of! 21 km of just brutal mud, rain, the forest and crazy enthusiasts trying to overcome challenge after challenge. My time is obviously “a bit” slower compared to a normal marathon – just 1 hour slower, so you can imagine what the difference was. Again – highly recommend everyone participating in such a marathon especially with bad weather conditions. I have participated even at Legion Run, but this one… this one was better!

Going for
Sofia Marathon 2014

October 6, 2014 By Boris Hristov Leave a Comment

This Sunday (12th of October) I will be going for the 20km run at Sofia Marathon 2014! After last year’s amazing experience, there is no doubt in my mind that everyone who enjoys sport and more particularly – enjoys running, should be there! Hope to see many, many friends next Sunday and please, please, please if you enrolled for either the 20km or the 42km discipline, please do a test run first and check if you are indeed able to ruBoris Hristov Sofia Marathon 2014n that distance. I really can’t understand people who think that running those kilometers (and these are a lot, trust me) can be done easily. Never underestimate the preparation for it because otherwise there may be some serious problems with your health. (just decided to mention it this time based on what I saw last year!)

See you there!

Update: Great experience once again! For a second year in a row we were blessed to have fantastic weather and fantastically organized event! I completed the 20km run for 1 hour and 39 minutes which is a really good time for me, so I am really pleased with the results. Definitely looking forward to the marathon next year and in the mean time – I have already registered for some other events.
