Simon Sinek and Personal Accountability

September 24, 2016 By Boris Hristov Leave a Comment

You know Simon Sinek from his “Start With Why” TED talk, right? If not, please stop everything. Stop reading this blog post and watch this.

I try to consume everything that Simon Sinek produces and probably that is the reason I saw the video above and stayed up until late in the evening one day to watch and then reflect on what he said.

Stop here for now and watch the whole video. Please. Yes, it will take you 1 hour, but I promise you – it’s worth your time.

Welcome back. Now you may be wondering why I am writing this blog post? The answer is very selfish – because I want to keep myself publicly accountable. This way I won’t have any excuses in front of myself and in front of you to not do what I learned from this video. Here are the 2 “accountability lists” I prepared for myself:

The personal one:

  1. When going out with friends, family or my girlfriend, leave my phone at home or have it with me, but don’t use it except in an emergency.
  2. Don’t put my phone next to me on the table when on a meeting or use it while waiting for someone. Notice the world.
  3. Leave my phone at the living room during the night.

The ones for 356labs:

  1. Make a rule – before a company meeting – phones out of the room.
  2. Care. Truly care about the people who work with me. Build a family.
  3. Support. Give chances. Make people at 356labs understand that I will always be there to help them in a hard moment.

…

That’s it. It’s public. Now I have no excuses.

Did you watch the video? What do you think?

I am happy to announce that just recently, I published my third course for Pluralsight – the one from the picture above!

So if you are looking for a time management course because you want to become more productive, go see this one and let me know what you think!

In the first 15 days after being published this course almost hit the top 50 in the Pluralsight’s library, so trust me… it’s a good one!

P.S. The first 5 people to write a comment under this blog post with what’s their biggest productivity struggle, will get a 30-day voucher for Pluralsight!

Robin Sharma.
The Masterclass and Me.

February 1, 2014 By Boris Hristov 2 Comments

Robin Sharma Master ClassI am following the work of Robin Sharma and his advises for a long time now. Last year I saw his offering about his Masterclass, but it was just too expensive for me(serious 4-digit number). I thought to myself that I just have to be part of his class one day and this year I went for it! Up until now (and the real 12-week training has just started), I can tell you that this training program is worth every penny! Stay tuned for more details around the Masterclass as I will be posting them here in the upcoming weeks… 6 months later… The past few months were incredible, but hard. The Masterclass really makes you rethink who you are, what you value and many, many other things. Here is a short list of what you will learn if you subscribe for Robin’s program:

  1. Get up early. Really early. Meaning around 5 AM.
  2. Have a journal where you write your ideas, goals, daily wins, tasks, everything…
  3. Decide which are your top 5 values.
  4. Decide what are the top 5 things you have to accomplish each quarter.
  5. Take risks and trust your gut!
  6. Do things that you resist doing.
  7. Have 1 day of the week with no technology.
  8. Schedule everything!
  9. Eat healthy and not late.
  10. Get fit!
  11. Work on 1 thing at a time and stop multitasking!
  12. Do different things, meet new people, experiment and be curious.
  13. Be a minimalist – have and know just a few things, but be and let them be amazing!
  14. Say “Thank you”, “Please” and “I am sorry” more.
  15. Be grateful for everything you have and remind yourself of it each and every day.
  16. Stop complaining and making excuses!
  17. Surround yourself with amazing people.
  18. Think about what you want to accomplish before your last day and how do you want to be remembered.
  19. Create a stop-doing list.
  20. Care about being right in the long term.

I can go on and on and on, be more specific about each one of those, explaining you why are those true, but I won’t! I won’t for just one simple reason – you have to enrol and become part of this Masterclass yourself. I really can’t explain “the thing” that makes you believe and start working on everything Sharma says(I think the fact that you pay a serious amount of money really matters), but believe me when I say it’s worth the money. If I have to be completely honest, I would have paid a lot more for it if I knew what the results will be! It’s an incredible experience and the journey is mind blowing – it will change you and your life forever! Wishing it to you all!
