Tim Grover. A Person You Need To Know About.

January 15, 2017 By Boris Hristov Leave a Comment

I recently stumbled upon a video interview with Michael Jordan’s and Kobe Bryant’s trainer – Tim Grover. I knew both of them were trained by the same person, but I didn’t know who he exactly is. Now I know. And I believe you should know too…

Here are the 3 things that I learned from the video interview and why I immediately purchased his book too(which, oh by the way, is probably one of the best books I have ever read!):

  1. There is no such thing as “beast mode” which athletes like Kobe and Jordan “turn on” at specific moments. They are just beasts.
  2. Luck is when preparation meets opportunity.
  3. You have to remove the words “just” and “only” from your dictionary and add “the”. Why? See the difference:

This is just a job.
This is only a job.
No!
This is the job.

This is just a game.
This is only a game.
No!
This is the game.

…

Once that video is again online, I will for sure update the blog post, but in the meantime I highly recommend you buy that book and learn even more.

P.S. Pay special attention to what he defines as “a Cleaner”.

Some time ago I was recognized by Microsoft with their MVP award and since then a lot of time passed by and so many wonderful things happened! I learned a lot form all of the MVP folks and I was able to travel and speak at a lot of conferences. Today Microsoft published an interview with me on their MVP website in which I talk about the award itself, what are the benefits and why one should strive to get it. You can read it here. Let me know what you think! 🙂

My First Serious TV Interview

December 23, 2012 By Boris Hristov 2 Comments

After becoming Student of the year for 2012, I got a bit of (not a ton of, a bit of) media attention and this TV interview is one of the examples for that. It’s in Bulgarian, but even though I am updating this blog post in 2016, I cannot believe how relevant was I 4 years ago! Enjoy 😉

2012-New-Year
Another year already behind us. However, a new one is knocking on our doors. Can you hear it? Are you ready to open up the door? What is going to happen next? I thought, it is time for me to do a quick recap of my year as I do this for some years already and it helps me see what I have done, where I need to focus more and what I should do next.

Let me start with what I have accomplished and what I have done throughout the year and then I will move to some negatives and of course future plans.

What I have accomplished:

1. Spent more time with my family
2. Spent more time with my amazing girlfriend
3. Went to the next level in my career and became SQL Server Deep Technical Support Engineer at Hewlett-Packard

15. Became Student of the Year 2012
16. Did my first interview on TV

19. Bought a MacBook Pro
20. Traveled a bit more
21. Blogged a lot more
22. Read a hell of a lot of books on various topics
23. Did tons of sport
24. A lot more…
————————————————————

Became better and had so much fun!

What I have not accomplished or missed to do:

1. Did not travelled abroad with my girlfriend 🙁
2. Did not made it to TechEd (the airline company went bankrupt)
3. Did not participated in Toastmasters, Bulgaria
4. Did not participated in Pecha Kucha, which was held at New Bulgarian University
5. Did not zeroed out my e-mail
6. Did not zeroed out my Google Reader
7. Did not ordered a Kobe Bryant’s jersey
8. Did not buy a Porsche (still dreaming though! :D)
9. Probably a lot more, but I am trying hard…

What are my future plans?

ahh… I can’t tell you… 🙂

So, to sum it up:

2012 – What a year!
2013 – I expect you to be even a better one!

In the end, I wish you to have a great Christmas days! Be with your family and closest people, laugh, enjoy, relax and see you next year!
