Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert? Noup. No More.

May 6, 2016 By Boris Hristov 2 Comments

MCSE_Boris_HristovI recently wrote a blog post that got quite some traction on why I am not going to recertify as a Microsoft Certified Trainer.

Just recently I noticed that my Data Platform certification has expired(as Microsoft’s certification now expire from a few years) which made me ask myself should I renew this one or not? The answer is – I won’t go for renewal and I won’t do that because of the same reasons which I pointed in my MCT post above – in my use case(and that’s really important – my case may be completely different from yours!), it just does not make any sense. I just don’t remember the last time I was asked or saw any practical benefit of being an MCSE.

So that’s that. Thank you, Microsoft, for all those years that I wore the title MCITP and then MCSE. Time to move on…

Oh, and by the way, you already know that Microsoft actually raised the prices of their certification exams, right? 🙂

You can become an MCT Alumni, pay $5 or $15 (I don’t remember) and you will be able to pass an exam with 50% discount 🙂

Indeed. Good advice for those who are planning recertification.
