Apple. Company, which doesn’t need any representation, was our guest today in NBU. Despite the financial crisis, the folks from Apple were so good to offer us a 5% discount for all of their products! How generous when we talk about 1500 Euro and more for a notebook …
The whole presentation was almost 4 hours, seperated in two parts. The first part, we were told about the history of Apple, when the second part stressed more on the technologies involved in the creation of one Apple product and why they are so special and … so expensive!
For those of you, who missed the lecture, but are intrested in the Apple’s history – you can buy the book “In business with Steve Jobs”, which you can find in any bulgarian bookshop. It’s, indeed, great! There you will find a lot of information about the Apple’s brain or in my opinion – the greatest leader ever – Steve Jobs. I was quite impressed to read his story and what he had been through. I recommend it to everyone!
That’s about the history. What about the technologies? I will try to sum it up, because I am sure that there are thousands of reviews on the web and everyone who needs more information can find it at every single moment.
Some of the interesting technologies you can find it the apple products, in concrete, the notebooks are:
- LED display – helps for better contrast and color depth
- Unibody – a solid piece of aluminium under the keyboard, helps the body not to fall down as it falls when it’s from platisc
- Backlight keyboard – illuminates the keyboard in low-light conditions
- Multi-touch trackpad – no need of explanation. You have all seen iPhone!
- Omnidirectional microphone – it doesn’t matter where you are around your notebook. In range of 5 meters, you will be heard the same way from every side you are.

As our lecturer said, many of the innovations used in Apple’s products are not something that special. You just have to thought of them. That’s what makes Apple special! My favourite product is the MacBook Pro, which I have opportunity to “play with” today and I can tell you – that’s the real deal! If you haven’t tried an Apple’s product yet, you definitely need to find a way to do it. You’ll find the difference immidiately!
I will finish with a thought of mr. Jobs. What he said is something this: “We will build only products, for people, who are connoisseurs. High quality products!”
